Korea South-East Power Wins 2026 UNLEASH Award

The award is jointly organized by the European Association for People Management and global HR technology group UNLEASH, and is presented to companies around the world that have delivered innovative achievements in the fields of human resources and talent development. A key reason for the award was the company’s "skills-based talent development system," established to respond proactively to the era of energy transition. Korea South-East Power defined the skills required in key areas including liquefied natural gas (LNG), renewable energy and carbon-free energy, and made them the standard across overall personnel management, including education and career development as well as promotion and placement. To support a successful energy transition, the company identified future workforce demand and assessed each employee’s skill level by combining competency diagnoses with supervisor evaluations. Based on this, it established Individual Development Plans and job-specific career development pathways, a move that was highly evaluated for systematically designing each employee’s direction for growth. Its learning system supporting AI transformation across operations also drew attention. Korea South-East Power operates step-by-step AI learning programs and reflects the results of related certification acquisition in personnel management. The strategy is intended to help members grow not as simple targets of change but as the subjects who lead change directly. The company was also well received for actively incorporating voices from worksites into training courses. It expanded participation in surveys on training demand and, based on on-site opinions, newly introduced or substantially reorganized training programs in future-oriented fields such as AI and renewable energy. It has also established an integrated learning platform, creating a digital learning environment that connects diagnosis, learning and coaching in one system. Lee Hyun-bin, president of Korea South-East Power, said, "This award is the result of our members’ capabilities being recognized on the global stage as they strive to achieve stable electricity supply, harmonious energy transition and AX together," adding that the company would foster talent linking field experience with new technologies and lead an energy transition that the public can tangibly feel.
