Apple has reportedly acknowledged display problems affecting a small number of units of its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, after users reported screen lines and possible cracking shortly after purchasing the device.
The reports initially surfaced on social media, with some customers describing display failures that appeared within hours of using the phone.
Apple has confirmed that a limited number of devices experienced issues with their internal displays and has invited affected customers to contact the company for replacements.
An Australian user, according to reports, shared his experience on Reddit, saying that a white line appeared across half of his iPhone Duo’s screen just six hours after he began using it. He said the problem occurred while he was showing the new device to a friend.
According to the user, the phone subsequently began making cracking sounds as he continued opening and closing it. Apple reportedly replaced the device promptly.
Similar complaints have also emerged from customers in the United States and India, according to a Bloomberg report.
In its response, Apple said it was aware of an issue affecting the internal displays of a small number of iPhone Duo units. The company advised customers experiencing display problems to get in touch to arrange a replacement.
Apple believes the issue may be linked to intensive use of the affected devices. However, the company said feedback from other customers had been positive.
It went on sale in several countries on October 23, with prices starting at $2,000, equivalent to more than Rs554,000 in Pakistan.
Despite the reported display concerns, demand for the device has been strong, with available stock selling out quickly. The next shipment is not expected to become available before January 2027.
