If the Milwaukee Brewers win the World Series, William Contreras could win MVP. So far, Contreras is batting .538 with 3 RBIs as the Brewers lead the series 3-0.
As a result, Milwaukee fans are beyond excited. So much so that they are vehemently criticizing former pitcher-turned-analyst John Smoltz for saying that Contreras shouldn’t challenge calls in certain game situations, per Jomboy Media.
In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Smoltz essentially said Contreras has no business arguing balls and strikes with umpires. The Brewers were up 2-0 at the time.

As a result, fans took issue with that.
“Honestly the WORST TAKE I might have ever heard live, ever,” @tdogbearkat posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Another fan also took Smoltz to task for not understanding the Brewers’ approach.
“Smoltz truly doesn’t understand the Brewers mentality. EVERY pitch matters. They play with sustained intensity no other team can match. This game moves fast; he needs to catch up,” @lisa_lehman posted.
Then, another fan made sure to remind Smoltz, who knows better than most, that the World Series is indeed the World Series.
“No stress.” Right, no stress. It’s only the World Series” @ullery_sco85640 posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Smoltz was part of the Atlanta Braves teams that played in five World Series in the 1990s: 1991, 1992, 1995, 1996, and 1999. The Braves won their only World Series in 1995. Smoltz was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.
Game 4 of the World Series is scheduled for Thursday at 7:00 pm CST/8:00 pm EST at Tropicana Field in Tampa.
