Dante Moore was expected to be one of the top QB prospects heading into the 2027 NFL Draft, but his season-ending injury may alter his chances drastically.
Moore completely elevated his game after leaving UCLA to join Oregon in 2024. And this season was one where he expected to impress scouts enough to declare for the 2027 NFL Draft.
However, Moore suffered a concussion early into the season during a game against USC, and had not played since, before now being ruled out entirely.
Fans believe Dante Moore made a mistake not joining the NFL before his injury
Dante Moore had been in concussion protocol after suffering a concussion while playing against USC, hoping to eventually get cleared.
However, Moore’s concussion seemingly hasn’t gotten better, with Oregon HC Dan Lanning confirming that the star quarterback will miss the remainder of the college football season.
Many fans showed sympathy for Moore, but also pointed out his decision to continue in college for another year was a bad idea.
One fan wrote: “If you are projected to go Top-5, there’s no point in returning to school.”
Another fan added: “Would’ve been a lock for the Top-3 this past April; now who knows where/if he’ll be drafted. Prayers of course, but such a head-scratching decision, man.”
A third fan suggested Moore’s absence isn’t entirely injury-related: “Just say he quit because they have no shot at a playoff spot and he’s not risking further injury before declaring for the draft. If they were 6-1 he’d be coming back.”
A fourth fan noted that Moore made a mistake sticking around in college: “This is why you come out anytime you’re projected to be a first-rounder.”
Jokingly, a fifth fan suggested Moore is trying to change his draft luck: “Saw his most likely destination was the Jets and was like, ‘Nah, I’m good.'”
And lastly, one final fan suggested that Moore’s injury will benefit him in hindsight: “Smart, why make scouts further drop your draft stock?”
Prior to his injury, Moore was projected to be one of the top-five picks in next year’s draft, with some even projecting him to go as high as second overall.
There is no word on whether and how his latest concussion will impact Moore’s draft stock, but one has to imagine this season-ending knock will likely make him fall down the draft order.
