Sunshine, good vibes, and a little extra sweat! This holiday brings the perfect mix of fun, fitness, and feel-good moments, proving that the best memories are made when you move, and enjoy every moment.
My ideal holiday has always involved a cute hotel, excellent food and absolutely no alarm clocks. So when I came across sweat jetting, a travel trend where people plan their holidays around fitness and physical activity, I was intrigued and mildly offended. Are we really taking our workouts on holiday now? Apparently, yes.
Rather than booking a trip for the usual sightseeing, shopping and lounging around, sweat jetting starts with an activity you want to experience. Maybe running a marathon in a new city, cycling through the French countryside, learning to surf in Bali or booking a yoga retreat somewhere that makes your regular studio look a little less exciting.
The destination becomes part of the workout, and the workout becomes the reason for the trip.
The Itinerary is Giving Fitness Era

At home, exercise can feel like one more thing I need to get done. On holiday, it could actually be the thing I look forward to. Imagine running along the coast before the rest of the world wakes up, cycling past vineyards with a proper scenic pit stop, or spending a few days learning to surf and discovering that the ocean is considerably less cooperative than it looks on Instagram.
I am not saying I would suddenly sign up for a marathon. But a beginner-friendly hiking trip or a yoga retreat with enough free time for a leisurely lunch sounds like a very convincing itinerary.
Packing for the Plot

A fitness-led holiday does require a slightly different packing strategy. I would still bring the outfits for dinner, but the workout wardrobe would need some serious consideration.
A Nike workout set is high on my list. I want something breathable and comfortable enough for a long walk, a cycling session or a spontaneous detour, without feeling like I have sacrificed all personal style for performance.
My Google Fitbit Air would be a useful travel companion. I would be curious to see my activity levels across the trip, track a training goal and get a sense of how much movement a day of exploring actually involves.
Cosmix Hydration Mix would make the packing list, too, particularly for a trip involving longer workouts or hot-weather activities. Hydration matters when you are sweating more than usual, although water will generally do the job for shorter sessions.
And my Instax Mini camera is absolutely coming. I want the slightly blurry post-activity photographs, the scenic breaks and the evidence that I actually tried something new. Not every holiday photograph needs to be a perfectly posed restaurant shot.
The Best Souvenir Might Be a New Obsession

What makes sweat jetting interesting to me is that it gives a holiday a little more meaning without taking away the fun. Of course, I still want the long lunches, the beautiful hotel and the freedom to spend an afternoon doing nothing. I refuse to believe that a fitness holiday means declining dessert or turning every sunrise into a workout.
But I like the idea of travelling for something I want to do, rather than simply somewhere I want to see. Maybe I will come home, fitter. Maybe I will discover that I love cycling. Or maybe I will realise that I am happiest doing yoga in a beautiful location, followed by a very long breakfast.
Either way, I get a holiday, a story and the satisfaction of trying something outside my usual routine.
