Oct. 26—SIOUX FALLS — Entering the final week of the regular season, Sioux Falls Christian no longer has unanimous control of the Class A No. 1 ranking in latest South Dakota Prep Media volleyball polls released on Monday.
The Chargers had been the unanimous No. 1 in Class A in four consecutive polls going back to Sept. 28, but this week, No. 2 Dell Rapids curiously received one top vote. SFC is 2-0 head-to-head against Dell Rapids this season, including winning the Dakota XII Conference championship on Oct. 17.
Since the last poll, SFC was 0-1, closing its regular season slate a week early with a four-set loss to Class AA No. 1 Harrisburg on Oct. 20 that put the Chargers' overall record at 22-9. Meanwhile, Dell Rapids is 23-3.
This marks the first time this season that there isn't a unanimous No. 1-ranked team in the media poll for any of the three classes. All three classes currently feature a 12-1 vote split of first-place votes between No. 1 and No. 2.
Next week will mark the final South Dakota Prep Media volleyball poll release of the 2026 season. The final regular-season matches for Class A and Class B programs are to be played on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and regional postseason play picks up on Monday, Nov. 2. Class AA continues its regular season through Saturday, Nov. 7.
