Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani have agreed to expand bilateral projects in trade, investment, economic development and humanitarian cooperation during a meeting in Tashkent on October 26, according to the presidential press service.
The meeting took place during the Qatari Emir’s working visit to Uzbekistan.
The two leaders noted that sustained high-level dialogue and cooperation had elevated relations between Uzbekistan and Qatar to the level of a strategic partnership, strengthening bilateral ties.

They reviewed progress on implementing agreements reached during previous high-level meetings and agreed to further expand joint projects across economic, investment, social and humanitarian sectors.
Mirziyoyev and Sheikh Tamim also exchanged views on issues of regional and international importance.

Earlier, on October 15, Mirziyoyev and Sheikh Tamim met on the sidelines of the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) to discuss expanding investment and cooperation in energy, chemicals, transport, construction and other sectors.
At that meeting, the leaders noted an increase in investment from Qatar since the beginning of 2026. They also discussed further opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties, including Uzbekistan’s participation in the Doha Forum in December, where meetings of the intergovernmental joint commission and the Business Council are planned.
