SUWON — Gyeonggi Province has unveiled a new slogan and brand identity reflecting the direction of its ninth popularly elected governorship since the restoration of local autonomy in South Korea.
The province said on the 27th that the new slogan, "There Is a Future, Gyeonggi Connects It," reflects its governing values of fairness, innovation and inclusion.
The slogan is meant to convey that Gyeonggi Province, the center of South Korea's industry, will open up the future for its 14.2 million residents and build on that to carry forward a better tomorrow for the country.
The signature design released alongside the slogan expresses the governing philosophy of the ninth popularly elected provincial government through shapes and colors. A square stands for fairness that does not tilt to either side. A triangle shaped like an upward-pointing arrow symbolizes innovation that moves forward. A circle represents the value of inclusion that embraces everyone.
The design uses three colors — blue, sky blue and green — representing "a fair Gyeonggi," "an innovative Gyeonggi" and "an inclusive Gyeonggi," respectively.
The province also distributed a brand identity manual so that the new slogan and signature design can be used in day-to-day administrative work. The manual includes applied designs for business cards, banners, backdrop walls and other promotional materials.
"We did not spend a separate budget on developing the slogan," said Lee Won-gu, director general of public relations planning at Gyeonggi Province. "We will also keep replacement of existing facilities to a minimum to maintain our budget savings stance."
"We will actively use the new slogan and brand identity across various areas so that residents can experience the governing values of this popularly elected provincial government in their daily lives," Lee added.
