Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley returned to the field for Monday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys, after missing each of the last two games with a hamstring injury.
Barkley was limited in his return after he tweaked his hamstring in the first quarter. His back locked up as a result, causing him to miss some time in the 38-21 loss at Lincoln Financial Field.
"That's how the body works. Sometimes something is a little banged up and you overcompensate a little bit," Barkley said when speaking to reporters postgame.
However, Barkley downplayed this new back issue and said his hamstring came out of the game "great."
Barkley made the most of his limited snaps on Monday night, taking seven carries for a team-high 62 yards and one touchdown, while also catching two passes for nine yards.
"It's kind of the school of thought I come from: I truly love this game, and I feel like if you're able to go, sometimes you've got to push your body to the limit," Barkley added postgame. "I'm trying, it's just not responding the way I want it to respond right now. It sucks because I'm trying to be the best leader I can be, and it's hard when you're not able to be out there and perform for your team."
