The New York Rangers lost Igor Shesterkin for the entire season earlier this month. Unfortunately, New York has not been able to recover on the ice without their elite goaltender. Head coach Mike Sullivan watched as his team fell on home ice to the Los Angeles Kings on Monday.
The Rangers lost to the Kings by the score of 6-3. Defenseman Drew Doughty led the way, scoring three points. New York has now lost five of its last six games. Sullivan believes there are players who simply don’t have their heads in the game right now.
“I just didn’t think from a mindset standpoint, I don’t think we had enough guys that were ready to play from the drop of the puck,” Sullivan said, via NHL.com. “We’ve got to fix that fast. The onus is on each individual to get himself ready for when the puck drops. It wasn’t everybody, but we just didn’t have enough.”

Veteran journeyman James Reimer took the crease for the Rangers in this contest. Things did not go well for him, either. He allowed three goals on eight shots in the first period. Both of the first two shots he faced went in as well.
The Rangers turned to primary starter Dylan Garand for the remainder of the game. Overall, it was a brutal loss for a Rangers team that needs to find ways to string together wins this season.
New York will try to move on from this defeat. The Rangers will have time to clear their heads a bit, too. They take the ice again on November 1 against the Edmonton Oilers.
