The six participating franchises for D3 auction have engaged in a fierce bidding war to grab the service of the national players at a local hotel in the city.
Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam emerged as the most sought-after player in the ongoing auction as Citizen Bank secured his services for 2.30 crore points following a long bidding war among several teams.
The auction is being conducted on a points-based system, and the figures do not represent players' actual salaries. Cricketers will receive domestic match fees as determined by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Each team has been allocated a maximum budget of 10 crore points to assemble its squad.
Players have been divided into five categories, with base values set at 40 lakh points for Category A, 30 lakh for Category B, 20 lakh for Category C, 10 lakh for Category D and 5 lakh for Category E.
Therefore being a Category A player, Shoriful will get Tk40 lakh whatever the points the team spend on him.
Walton Group roped in fast bowler Taskin Ahmed for 2.10 crore points, while Fortune Group obtained the service of national team opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim for 2 crore points.
His fellow opener Saif Hassan was another high-profile acquisition, joining Seven Rings Cement for 1.95 crore points. Wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali Anik was picked up by Citizen Bank for 1.70 crore points.
A total of 275 cricketers have been listed to go under the hammer. The three-format D3 Trophy is scheduled to begin in December this year.
