Aave’s V4 platform on Base has seen a significant influx of Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks, with deposits exceeding $10 million—a 514.5% rise over the past month. This surge, highlighted by Token Terminal, suggests increasing confidence in the use of tokenized equities as collateral for onchain lending. The growth is primarily driven by the inclusion of popular stocks such as Alphabet, Nvidia, and Meta, which collectively account for the majority of deposits. Market participants appear to interpret this trend as a positive indicator for the broader DeFi ecosystem on Base, potentially influencing sentiment around a Base token launch.

Key Takeaways

• The substantial increase in deposits into Aave V4 indicates growing confidence in the Base ecosystem.
• Tokenized stocks are increasingly being utilized as collateral for onchain lending rather than just as holding assets.
• Market sentiment appears to be shifting towards a supportive view of a potential Base token launch.

What to Watch

The continued growth of tokenized stock deposits on Aave could further influence market sentiment around a Base token launch. Key figures such as Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and major crypto influencers may play significant roles in shaping expectations. Developments like strategic partnerships or regulatory approvals could also be pivotal in the coming months, especially as the December 31, 2026, deadline for the Base token launch prediction approaches.
