According to our benchmarks, the 12-core variant should provide the iMac with almost 40% faster CPU performance and over 200% faster GPU performance. Incidentally, Apple claims that its latest desktop delivers '5x faster on-device AI performance than M4' variants.
Also, the new iMac also boasts up to a 170 GB/s memory bandwidth and a 2x faster SSD. Moreover, Apple's N1 chipset brings Bluetooth 6.0, Thread and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity to its 24-inch all-in-one. The 60 Hz, 500-nit and 4,480 x 2,520-pixel IPS display returns from older models, though. Apple ties these 10-core and 12-core chipsets to dual and quad Thunderbolt 4 ports respectively, too.
The new 24-inch iMac starts at $1,499 in the US with a 10-core chipset, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Alternatively, Apple offers up to 32 GB of RAM, 2 TB of storage, nano-texture glass and optional 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet with 10-core variants. Pre-orders will begin shipping on November 6.
