Batexpo 2026 will feature a dedicated 'Impact Zone' showcasing Bangladesh's progress in environmental sustainability, social responsibility and governance across the ready-made garment (RMG) value chain.
The zone will highlight initiatives in decarbonisation, renewable energy, recycling, circularity and resource efficiency, alongside efforts to promote gender equity, worker health and nutrition, childcare and maternal care.
It will also showcase digital traceability solutions, including the Digital Product Passport (DPP), as the industry adapts to evolving European Union (EU) regulations and global supply-chain requirements, according to a press release issued today (27 October).
Moving beyond conventional compliance, the initiative aims to demonstrate how Bangladesh's apparel industry is adopting sustainable manufacturing practices to improve transparency and strengthen its global competitiveness.
BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan said the Impact Zone would offer a comprehensive picture of the transformation taking place across the industry amid growing emphasis on climate action, resource efficiency and the circular economy.
"This is not merely a story of compliance; it is the story of a distinctive and responsible journey towards leadership in global markets," he added.
Vidiya Amrit Khan, BGMEA vice-president and the driving force behind the initiative, said the country's apparel industry must be prepared not only to meet evolving global sustainability requirements but also to lead the transition towards responsible manufacturing.
The zone will demonstrate progress in decarbonisation, circularity, worker wellbeing and digital traceability, including the Digital Product Passport, she said.
"Our ambition is to position Bangladesh as a trusted, forward-looking partner in the global shift towards sustainable apparel production," Vidiya added.
Organised by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), with PDS as the title sponsor, Batexpo 2026 will be held on 18–19 November at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka.
