Coercive copper Craig Ingram (Matthew James Bailey) turns violent towards vulnerable Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) in EastEnders next week, as the soap’s grooming storyline takes another dark turn.
Scenes this week see the couple flee Walford after Craig exerts even more control over the teenager, sparking a frantic hunt from her loved ones to find her.
Amid the search, who should turn up in Walford than Sean Slater (Rob Kazinsky).
He immediately teams up with his old rival Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) to help find Amy, still feeling a special connection to her, as in the early months of her life, Amy’s late mum Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) had let Sean believe he was her father, not Jack.
Next week, Amy and Craig are still hiding out in a bedsit, but it’s clear she is becoming increasingly uncomfortable around him and about the situation she’s in.
Back on the Square, Sean and Jack argue about her uncle Max Branning (Jake Wood) giving Amy her inheritance early.
Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) later arrives with a breakthrough in the hunt for Amy, as she reveals that she opened a bank account using her daughter Charli’s tablet, and they hand this information to the police and the account is later frozen.
Meanwhile, Craig tries to arrange a place abroad for him and Amy to stay, but when he realises they no longer have access to Amy’s inheritance, he violently lashes out and hits her.
Later on, Sean comes up with an idea to lure Amy to Walford, by getting her ill stepmother Denise Fox (Diane Parish) to record a plea video.
‘Sean never stopped thinking of Amy as his child, he held her in his arms as his daughter and finding out she wasn’t his was the hardest thing that ever happened to him,’ says actor Rob Kazinsky, who plays Sean.
‘He will protect her and love her as only a father ever could. He swore to Roxy that he would do so and nothing stops him keeping promises to Roxy Mitchell.’
With Sean on the warpath, we can only imagine the carnage that awaits if he manages to get his hands on Craig…
Rob teases: ‘We quickly see how important family is to Sean and the lengths he will go to, to protect it.’
EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 2nd November at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
