Zibi Boniek won five major honours with Juventus, so he knows when a team is ready to find success and when it is too nice to enjoy that, and the current Juve team does not seem ready to him. The Bianconeri have been one of the top teams in the world, but in recent times, they are not even among the best in Serie A as they simply cannot be trusted to win any game.
There have been times when small teams are afraid to face the Old Lady, but nowadays, they always feel that they have a chance to win the games. Juve has been rebuilding for several seasons, yet every summer it seems like a new rebuild is starting for them all over again.
Boniek’s Grim Assessment
They have hired several managers, yet the team is not commanding and is nowhere near the side that dominated under Antonio Conte and Max Allegri before 2020. This Juve team is very far from being a successful side, and Boniek is understandably sad to watch them struggle, as has been the case in recent times.
He has now spoken about the current Bianconeri side and believes they are just too nice. He said via Calciomercato:
“It’s a pretty compromised and difficult situation. I see and hear various critics: those who are pro Conte, those who criticize Spalletti… I’m just saying that, when I look at Juventus, I don’t see a team of champions, just good players. And that makes a difference. Today they are a team not in the front row for the Scudetto, you can also see how they are suffering in Europe”.

A Club Searching for Identity
Boniek’s words reflect a deep concern about the direction of the club, as the comparison to the Conte and Allegri eras is stark. The current side lacks the winning mentality that defined those teams, and the fans are frustrated.
The rebuild has taken too long, and the club must find a way to arrest the decline. The manager’s task is to restore belief, but the scale of the challenge is significant. The coming weeks will show whether the team can respond.
