Monrovia – The completion of CANAL+’s acquisition of MultiChoice last year marks the beginning of a new era for African entertainment, creating greater opportunities to invest in content, innovation, and customer experiences across the continent. Reflecting this ambition, MultiChoice Group, a CANAL+ Company, introduces its most significant product update in years, bringing more of Africa’s greatest entertainment live to subscribers from 5 November.
The new package line-up is designed around how customers watch today, with clearer choices, more accessible content, and greater value across the portfolio.
With a focus on giving subscribers better value and access to the entertainment they love, DStv is focusing on its strength with African entertainment, leading international content and unrivalled live sport in one place. Our new packages are reimagined to reflect how customers watch today, with tailored options specifically for general entertainment and sports fans.
More Entertainment for More Subscribers
For the first time, some of DStv’s biggest channels will be available at significantly more accessible price points.
• DStv Access becomes DStv Starter ($7/month): Adding more channels than its predecessor, including the brand-new SuperSport KICKOFF channel, Premier League Match of the Week, La Liga, M-Net Legends, and Star Life.
• DStv Family becomes DStv Select ($13/month): Offering a wide variety of entertainment for the whole family across a broad selection of channels. Subscribers will enjoy all movie channels (including M-Net Movies+), African and international series (Novelas+, Telemundo, Serie A, Betway PSL), as well as top kids’ channels like Nickelodeon.
• Refreshed Movie Line-up: Refreshed with M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars, and M-Net Legends, bringing more blockbuster movies, faster access to new releases, and fewer repeats.
More Sport Across the Line-Up
• DStv Compact becomes DStv Sports ($24/month): DStv’s first package built specifically for sports fans, covering every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match, cricket, selected international club rugby, WWE, and UFC.
Alongside this extensive sporting offering, DStv Sports includes all the general entertainment channels available on DStv Select, proving that Expect More is not simply a new brand tagline, but a tangible promise delivered through DStv’s refreshed content offering.
• DStv Compact Plus & Premium become DStv Ultimate ($37/month): DStv’s most comprehensive all-in-one package, combining everything available on DStv Sports with additional premium sport—including Formula 1, MotoGP, ATP Tennis, and PGA Golf majors—as well as flagship M-Net entertainment.
More African Stories, Backed by CANAL+
As part of the MultiChoice Group’s integration with CANAL+, the business is able to draw on CANAL+’s global scale, content relationships, and more than 30 years of experience across Africa to further enhance its offering to customers.
At the same time, MultiChoice remains firmly committed to investing in local content and telling authentic African stories. The business continues to expand its portfolio of original productions across markets, ensuring audiences can enjoy a rich mix of locally relevant entertainment alongside the very best international content. Over the next few months, viewers in Liberia can look forward to rich West African storytelling, hit Nollywood blockbusters, and flagship regional productions across MultiChoice’s local channels.
“MultiChoice has built an extraordinary connection with African audiences and a deep understanding of the stories they love to watch,” said Nomsa Philiso, EVP Content, CANAL+ Africa. “Not only does CANAL+ share that passion and commitment, but it is also investing in African storytelling through increased production and global distribution opportunities.”
Get Connected for Less
To make premium entertainment and sport more accessible to households across Liberia, DStv will launch a special hardware promotion. During this period, customers will be able to purchase selected decoders and hardware bundles at promotional prices, making it easier and more affordable to get connected and enjoy an unmatched range of local and international content.
The promotion reinforces MultiChoice’s commitment to delivering greater value, wider access to quality entertainment, and more opportunities for customers to experience the very best of DStv.
