A Rabat appeals court has upheld the initial ruling against YouTuber Benesnes and ordered the closure of his social media accounts and a three-year ban on content creation.
The ruling came late Monday after a lengthy hearing in which his defense asked the court to reduce the sentence or overturn the initial verdict.
In July, a Temara court sentenced Benesnes to eight months in prison and a MAD 20,000 fine for skinning a dead dog during Eid Al-Adha. The incident sparked controversy among animal rights groups.
The court also acquitted him of killing or mutilating an animal but convicted him of insulting Islam and threatening to commit a misdemeanor.
