The Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre will be subject to a two-kilometre Biosecurity control order zone to support long-term monitoring up to 24 months.
NSW authorities have detected no more fire ants since a nest of fire ants was located at a logistics centre in Enfield in late September.
But the state government has nevertheless implemented a biosecurity control order, declaring intensive surveillance of a 500-metre area surrounding the 2km radius ‘zone of activity’ where the ants were first found.
From Monday, the control order will regulate the movement of potential carrier materials considered ‘high risk’ with instructions to “Leave it, snap it, and call it”.
