(ANSA) - ROMA, 27 OTT - The Italian Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Roberta Di Lecce, opened the first edition of Italian Language Week in the country at Alassane Ouattara University in Bouaké.
“A language is a gateway: to a culture, but also to education, work, and new professional opportunities,” said the Ambassador.
During the event, study and work opportunities linked to knowledge of Italian were highlighted, including scholarships from the Italian government and mobility programs. Representatives from the Chambers of Commerce, the L’Albero della Vita Foundation, and—via video link—Uni-Italia spoke at the event.
The first Italian Language Week in Côte d’Ivoire is thus intended to serve as the starting point for a broader project: to gradually strengthen the presence of Italian in the Ivorian educational and university landscape and to make the language an additional bridge between the societies, universities, and economies of the two countries.
“My hope is that this marks the beginning of a journey that we intend to build step by step, with realism and enthusiasm, together with our Italian and Ivorian partners, so that in the coming years more and more young Ivorians will learn Italian, thereby helping to forge new bonds between our two countries,” the Ambassador concluded.
