Russia Begins Diesel Shipments to US Under New Putin-Trump Deal
Russia has begun shipping diesel to global markets under a new agreement with US President Donald Trump, with the first tanker carrying around 40,000 metric tons of fuel now heading toward New York.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said further shipments would follow, as Moscow works to restore exports and meet international demand. The first tanker, loaded at Russia’s Baltic port of Primorsk on October 22, is expected to arrive in the United States on November 7.
The agreement comes as the Trump administration seeks to ease soaring diesel prices. Washington has temporarily authorized certain Russian fuel transactions, marking a major shift from restrictions imposed after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
However, the deal does not authorize unlimited shipments. Russia has said exports will depend on available surplus fuel and domestic supply needs, while plans call for additional shipments in the coming weeks.
