Epic weekend for USMNT players in Europe as Pulisic, McKennie, Weah, Freeman, Scally all score in wins

USMNT players in Europe had themselves quite a weekend, as Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah, among others, were on the scoresheet in important victories.

Somewhere Mauricio Pochettino is smiling.

MORE — Upcoming USMNT schedule

After so many youngsters impressed during the previous international break in four-straight wins against Peru, Chile, Mexico and Canada, it is going to be intriguing to see how many of the more experienced players Pochettino calls upon in the upcoming CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals against Haiti in November.

Christian Pulisic scores, dazzles in AC Milan win

Pulisic scored the opener and was man of the match as AC Milan won 2-0 at Udinese to stay four points behind Serie A leaders Inter.

Early on Luka Modric played a wonderful pass over the top and Pulisic timed his run to perfection, controlled a difficult ball and slotted home calmly to set Milan on their way.

Pulisic, 28, was described as being 'back in Superhero form' by Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy, as he created several chances for Ruben Amorim's Milan and was constantly popping in dangerous areas on the inside left channel and centrally.

Perhaps Pulisic's absence from the USMNT during the last international break has given him the rest he needed to reset properly?

Timothy Weah captains Marseille as he scores in victory

Tim Weah continues to play at right back for French giants Marseille and he was captain and scored a beauty of a goal in their 4-3 win at home against Le Havre.

Weah cut inside from the right, dribbled past a couple of players and took his shot early to sneak it under the goalkeeper.

Marseille were 4-0 up after 55 minutes but then took their foot off the gas in a big way and conceded three late goals but held on for the win as they're just four points off top spot in Ligue 1.

Weah hasn't featured much for the USMNT in recent months and will be hoping to get back in the mix after a disappointing World Cup. He could be a very good option at right wing-back if Pochettino decides to go with that kind of formation.

Weston McKennie scores opener as Juventus win at Lecce

Midfielder Weston McKennie has kind of gone under the radar in recent months but he flicked home cleverly from close range to send Juventus on their way to a 2-0 win at Lecce.

McKennie is a mainstay in midfield for Juve and the 3-5-2 system under Luciano Spalletti suits him well.

After signing a new long-term contract earlier this year, it's clear McKennie is at home at Juventus and is a key part of their rebuild under Spalletti as they aim to push for at least the top four in Serie A this season.

Defenders Scally, Freeman both score in wins

USMNT defenders got in the act with big goals too, as both Joe Scally and Alex Freeman grabbed huge goals in victories for Borussia Monchengladbach and Villarreal respectively.

Scally and 'Gladbach really needed their first win of the season as they had lost all six of their Bundesliga games so far.

And they got the victory away at Champions League side Stuttgart in a huge shock. Scally made it 1-1 just before half time with this clever flick and his side surged ahead after the break and hung on for a big 3-2 win.

Fellow right back Freeman scored his first goal for Villarreal and it was a big one.

Freeman equalized in the second half for Villarreal away at Valencia in the derby, as the Yellow Submarine turned it around and scored a 96th minute winner to spark wild scenes of celebrations.
