The Indian manufacturer has unveiled a flexible, lightweight monocrystalline PERC solar module that is reportedly about 70% lighter than conventional glass-based panels and is designed for curved rooftops and weight-constrained applications.
Indian solar manufacturer Waaree has showcased a 520 W flexible, lightweight monocrystalline PERC solar module designed for applications where conventional glass-based panels are difficult to install.
The module has a power conversion efficiency of 19.69% and is approximately 70% lighter than conventional glass-based solar panels, according to the company.
It features M10 P-type monocrystalline PERC cells and an ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) polymer frontsheet. The module can bend up to 30 degrees, making it suitable for curved rooftops, roofs with limited load-bearing capacity, mobile platforms, and irregular architectural surfaces.
The panel measures 2,242 mm × 1,178 mm × 3 mm and weighs 10.5 kg. Its thickness, including the junction box, is 20 mm.
The module has a temperature coefficient of −0.34%/C for maximum power output and an operating temperature range of −40 C to 85 C.
Waaree is an Indian solar manufacturer with operations spanning PV module manufacturing and other segments of the solar value chain. The company offers solar modules for residential, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications. Its lightweight, flexible module expands its portfolio to applications where panel weight, rigidity, or installation constraints can limit the use of conventional PV products.
