Sophie Cunningham shares her reaction to the Indiana Fever parting ways with GM Amber Cox.
The Indiana Fever have gone through a major front office shake-up, which led to the departures of team president Kelly Krauskopf and general manager Amber Cox.
Most felt the decision was necessary after the Fever’s terrible performance during the 2026 WNBA playoffs, despite having the likes of Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aliyah Boston on the roster.
Coming to the aftermath of Cox and Krauskopf’s departures, guard Sophie Cunningham recently shared her reaction to the news.
Sophie Cunningham breaks silence on Amber Cox’s firing
Cunningham shared her reaction to the news during the Sports Illustrated Circuit Series at the United States Grand Prix in Austin.
“I have nothing but great things to say about them. Hopefully, the Fever come in and bring in people who can do a really good job with that program.
“I was blessed to be under Kelly and Amber, and I wish them the very best. We’ll see what happens,” Cunningham said.
She added, “There was not a lot of warning, and that’s okay. I think that’s probably a good thing that you kind of keep it in-house a little bit.
“But you know what? Kelly and Amber, they’re phenomenal, phenomenal people. They cared a lot about us as players and as individuals outside the court.”
All things considered, Cunningham kept things professional and had nothing bad to say about the former Fever executives.
But as she stated, the Fever need to bring in better replacements for them. Otherwise, nothing will change for the team during the 2027 WNBA season.
