The Maple Leafs could not complete the comeback against Calgary, though. The Flames padded their lead on Monday night. The Flames picked up a big 5-2 victory on Monday. This is Calgary’s fifth win in six games.
Matthews has had quite the start to the season. With his assist, he has now recorded a point in four of his last six games. In fact, the Maple Leafs captain has gone without a point just twice this season.
This is a tough way for Toronto’s four-game winning streak to end. But they know they can string together some big wins when they need them. With the calendar flipping to November, it’s crucial to continue finding ways to win.
Matthews and the Maple Leafs will shake this one off and prepare for their next contest. Toronto takes the ice again on Wednesday as they continue their road trip against the Seattle Kraken.
