Just days after it got the OK for an event in "Sin City" next year, the Global Fight League took another major step in its latest attempt to get off the ground.
The GFL on Sunday made official its first event, making good on a tease from September on social media. The promotion will debut Dec. 18 in Argentina. The first event will be between the Miami Monsters and Buenos Aires Gauchos – "20 fighters. 2 teams. 1 historic night," according to GFL's instagram post.
The promotion said full roster reveals for those two teams will take place Monday for the event set for Microestadio Club Atletico Lanus in Buenos Aires. No broadcast details were announced.
"This is more than a fight night. It’s the beginning of a new chapter in professional MMA, where fighters represent their cities, teams compete for glory, and every fight matters," the GFL posted. "To everyone who has believed in the vision and supported the journey, this moment is for you. The teams are ready. The stage is set. History starts in Buenos Aires."
