IMPHAL, Oct 26: My Home India is conferring the 13th Swami Vivekananda Smriti Karmayogi Award 2026 on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) pracharak Laishram Jatra Singh in recognition of his lifelong dedication to National service.
The award ceremony will be held on October 31 at the Mavalankar Auditorium, Constitution Club of India, in New Delhi.
Sanoj Gupta, National in-charge of North-East Activity at My Home India, said that Laishram Jatra Singh, an RSS pracharak in Manipur, has devoted his life to Nation-building and social service.
The Karmayogi Award comprises a citation, a shawl, a memento, a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000.
Born on October 10, 1944, at Khangabok Khullakpam Leikai in Thoubal district, Jatra Singh began attending RSS shakhas at the age of 22. He was introduced to the Sangh by Bhaskar Rao Kulkarni. After serving as a vistarak for a year and completing the First Year Sangh Shiksha Varg, he became a pracharak in 1971. Since then, he has devoted nearly 55 years to the organisation and to the service of the Nation.
During his long organisational career, Jatra served as Jilla Pracharak, Vibhag Pracharak and Manipur Sambhag Pracharak. At the Dakshin Assam (South Assam) Prant level, he held the responsibilities of Sah-Bauddhik Pramukh and Sah-Vyavastha Pramukh. Following the formation of Manipur Prant within the Sangh’s organisational structure, he served as Prant Bauddhik Pramukh and Prant Vyavastha Pramukh.
He is currently a member of the Manipur Prant Karyakarini.
During the National Emergency in 1975, he was arrested and imprisoned for one year and 2 months, Sanoj Gupta, said.
In one notable episode of his organisational journey, Jatra reportedly led a team across the Myanmar border to engage in discussions at camps of militant groups. The initiative succeeded in securing the lifting of restrictions on Sangh activities in Manipur, reflecting his emphasis on dialogue and engagement even in difficult circumstances, Gupta added.
