Uzbekistan will allocate UZS 100bn ($8.3mn) annually to cover advanced training costs for 130,000 medical workers in district-level healthcare facilities, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced at a meeting with medical and pharmaceutical workers on October 27.
As new technologies, diagnostic tools and treatment methods continue to emerge, Mirziyoyev emphasized the need for medical professionals to continually update their knowledge and skills.
“Medical workers must always work on themselves and not lag behind the news!” the president said.
Under the new initiative, the private sector will be involved in professional development, allowing medical workers to independently choose where to receive advanced training. The state will fully cover training costs for personnel working at the primary healthcare level and in districts.
Mirziyoyev also announced plans to introduce a state registration system for medical and pharmaceutical professionals, which has been developed following a study of international best practices.
The system will be launched on July 1, 2027, initially on a voluntary basis. Registration will become mandatory from 2030.
Registered doctors and pharmacists will receive a bonus of UZS 7mn ($584), while nurses will be eligible for UZS 3.5mn ($292).
“There should be clear procedures and strict control in the field of public health, and only professionals should be engaged in this activity,” Mirziyoyev said.
Officials have been instructed to ensure the quality of education in the healthcare sector and maintain the continuous operation of systems for training and professional development.
