The United States military says it has killed five suspected drug traffickers in a strike on a speedboat operating along established narcotics-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific.
The operation was carried out on October 27 by Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere under the direction of the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).
In a statement, the military said intelligence had confirmed the vessel was actively involved in drug trafficking.
“The operation killed five narco-terrorists,” the statement said.
The strike forms part of US military operations targeting suspected narcotics-trafficking activities along maritime routes in the Eastern Pacific.
The statement did not provide further details about the vessel’s origin, its intended destination or the quantity of suspected narcotics involved.
