Assam: A huge fire razed a roadside eatery on Sunday near the Dibrugarh judicial court, Assam, reducing the structure and everything inside it to ashes, before firefighters managed to stop the flames from reaching the court complex standing right next to it. The blaze, which started in the eatery, turned destructive within moments of breaking out, leaving little scope for anything inside to be saved.
Several fire tenders rushed to the spot as soon as information about the incident was received and launched a sustained operation to douse the flames. The promptness shown by the firefighters on arrival proved crucial, as their efforts kept the fire from spreading to nearby structures, and the neighbouring judicial court escaped damage entirely.
The situation turned considerably more dangerous after a cooking gas cylinder kept inside the eatery exploded. The blast intensified the fire and helped it engulf a large part of the structure, and the eatery, along with all the articles kept in it, was burnt down completely.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the loss have not yet been officially established, and authorities are yet to share details on either. No injuries were reported in the incident.
