The Pioneers’ Park, located between the Serbian Parliament and the Presidency buildings in central Belgrade, finally reopened to the public after serving as a fenced-off, pro-government tent camp colloquially known as “Caciland” for the past year and a half.

The metal barriers that had cordoned off the park for 18 months were torn down and tossed onto the sidewalk on Sunday night. During celebrations marking the Student List’s electoral victory, members of the public cut through the fencing to reclaim the green space.
Debris is scattered throughout the park, including abandoned tents, metal frames, tables, and chairs left behind from rallies hosted there since the site was first occupied on March 6.
A massive community clean-up effort began in the park on Monday.
Both local citizens and municipal utility workers are taking part in the initiative, N1’s reporter on the scene said.
The reporter noted that citizens are filling trash bags with the remnants of everything left behind from the park’s year-and-a-half-long occupation.
