Public previews, cultural events and masterclasses will lead into a week of auctions, including Sotheby’s first fine art sale in Abu Dhabi
This December, Sotheby’s is set to stage a major week-long auction series in Abu Dhabi.
The public is welcomed to explore a collection of fine art and luxury objects in Abu Dhabi this December, ahead of its second Collectors’ Week, which will feature exhibitions, panel discussions, events and masterclasses.
Taking place at the Saadiyat Grove Experience Centre, the programme will offer visitors an opportunity to experience works by international and regional artists, alongside luxury watches, jewellery, cars, handbags and high-performance bicycles. The public exhibitions will precede six auctions on December 9 and 10.
The week will also mark a milestone for the auction house with Breaking Ground, its first fine art auction in Abu Dhabi. The sale will feature works by international artists including Andy Warhol and Claude Monet, alongside leading Middle Eastern artists and pioneering Emirati figures.
Experience fine art and luxury like never before
The public exhibitions will offer a close-up look at some of the standout pieces heading to auction on 9 December, spanning rare watches, statement jewellery, high-performance cars, handbags and bicycles.
The Shapes of Cartier sale will feature around 50 watches from the celebrated single-owner collection, including a rare Twin Strap model dating to approximately 1970–1971. The jewellery collection will include a fancy brown-orange diamond weighing more than 40 carats, a necklace featuring rubies and diamonds, and a 10.51-carat crescent emerald and diamond pendant.
