The Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA), Mrs Musayeroh Barrie, has called for stronger aviation security through improved oversight, staff training and international cooperation.
Speaking at ICAO Security Week, Barrie said protecting civil aviation requires joint efforts from governments, security agencies, aviation operators and international partners.
She said aviation security plays an important role in protecting passengers and aviation personnel, maintaining public confidence in air travel and supporting national security and economic development.
Barrie also stressed the need for continued investment in professional training and effective monitoring to help aviation authorities identify and prevent potential security threats.
She urged aviation stakeholders to build a strong security culture and remain alert to emerging risks, emphasising that security measures must be applied consistently.
Her remarks highlighted the importance of shared responsibility in keeping civil aviation safe, with cooperation and vigilance needed to prevent security failures.
