Texas Longhorns offensive tackle Trevor Goosby will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after suffering a left knee injury against Ole Miss. His absence leaves Texas without a regular starter on the offensive line.
Goosby started all seven games this season and was projected as a potential first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Andre Cojoe took over at left tackle after Goosby left the game.
Texas faces a new challenge on the offensive line
Trevor Goosby, a Texas Longhorns offensive tackle, suffered a left knee injury during the first quarter against Ole Miss on October 24. He was carted to the locker room and later seen on the sideline using crutches. According to the On3 report, Goosby will miss the remainder of the 2026 season.
Goosby was an important member of Texas’ offensive line throughout the season. His absence leaves the Longhorns without their regular left tackle for the rest of the campaign. The injury also comes as he prepares for the 2027 NFL Draft, where he had been viewed as a potential first-round selection.
Goosby is 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 325 pounds. He started all seven of Texas’ games in 2026 and made 22 starts over the previous three seasons.
Goosby recorded a 74.1 Pro Football Focus (PFF) offensive grade in 2026. He also allowed no sacks across 223 pass-blocking snaps. Those numbers reflected his performance in pass protection, a responsibility Texas must now address without him at left tackle.
Goosby had also sustained a left knee injury during practice in August, when he was diagnosed with a bone bruise. He recovered and started Texas’ first seven games of the season. However, no information has confirmed whether the earlier injury was connected to his latest knee injury.
The injury also raises uncertainty about Goosby’s preparation for the 2027 NFL Draft. ESPN draft analyst Field Yates projected him to be selected eighth overall in his mock draft published on October 21. Goosby had been considered a potential first-round prospect ahead of the 2027 NFL Draft.
After Goosby left the Ole Miss game, Andre Cojoe took over at left tackle. Cojoe appeared in all seven of Texas’ games during the 2026 season but missed the entire 2025 season after suffering an injury during preseason activities.
Cojoe entered the game after replacing Goosby against Ole Miss. He missed a block, allowing Texas quarterback Arch Manning to be sacked and fumble the ball. Ole Miss recovered the fumble and scored a touchdown. Texas eventually won 34–27.
Texas also had other players dealing with injuries and absences against Ole Miss. Wide receiver Cam Coleman suffered a shoulder injury and did not return to the game. Defensive pass rusher Colin Simmons and running back Hollywood Smothers were also unavailable for the matchup.
Texas was scheduled to face Mississippi State on October 31, with Andre Cojoe expected to continue at left tackle following Goosby’s injury.
