The Oklahoma City Thunder suffered a massive injury blow during their game against the LA Clippers, and Shams Charania’s confirmation has fans quite sympathetic.
One of the most talked-about moments in Sunday’s NBA action was the unfortunate injury suffered by the OKC Thunder’s Jalen Williams. The former All-Star landed awkwardly following a mid-air collision, and the resulting ankle injury was fairly gruesome, to say the least.
Williams wasn’t the only OKC star to get hurt, either. Cason Wallace also got injured during the game, clutching his shoulder as he walked off. With both Williams and Wallace, fans were hoping against hope that scans would prove things were not as bad as they feared, but that is unfortunately not the case.

Oklahoma City already won a championship with their core, but they have been touted as being good enough to get another. Injuries to two of their big stars, especially severe injuries, will make another run nearly impossible. Shams Charania’s report confirmed exactly that.
“Oklahoma City’s Jalen Williams has a dislocated left ankle and fractured fibula; Cason Wallace has a torn labrum in his left shoulder. Both will undergo surgery and be sidelined for several months and most, if not the entire season,” Charania wrote. NBA fans in the replies were shocked, to say the least.
“Jesus Christ, 2 season ending injuries in one game? OKC’s season is done just like that,” one fan observed. “Injuries have ruined a potential all time great dynasty,” another fan said. “This is absolutely heartbreaking. Two incredible young players potentially losing an entire season to injuries,” a third fan wrote.
“That’s just awful, I wish them a speedy recovery,” a fourth comment read. “OKC was looking to be the strongest team early on but now that has taken a big hit,” a fifth reply claimed. “Jalen Williams just cannot catch a break, this stuff is really sad man,” a sixth fan commented.
The Thunder beat the Suns on Monday night even without these two stars, but they will find it difficult to sustain that as the season wears on. The hope will be that both Williams and Wallace recover as fast as possible, but until then, Sam Presti and Mike Daigneault have a lot to figure out.
