Revivo Clinic, a Chennai-based centre specialising in obesity, diabetes and metabolic health, launched its Type II diabetes remission program on Monday, ahead of World Diabetes Day on November 14.
The programme was inaugurated by Sowmiya Anbumani, Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. Arun Raghavan, diabetologist, metabolic physician and co-founder of Revivo Clinic, said the initiative would focus on assessing patients’ eligibility for remission before enrolment.
Ms. Sowmiya said diabetes was once considered a lifelong condition. “Not everyone will be able to reverse it, but doctors say that appropriate interventions can help manage the disease. Adopting healthier eating habits and making lifestyle changes can help people lead healthier lives,” she said.
The physician-led program combines personalised medical care, nutrition, physical activity and lifestyle interventions, supported by regular monitoring of clinical outcomes. Patients who are not eligible for remission will be guided towards appropriate diabetes management to help prevent complications.
Dr. Raghavan said diabetes remission was scientifically feasible for eligible individuals, but required consistent clinical oversight. The programme would focus on personalised interventions rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, he added.
Arvind Ashok, founder of Quad Fitness, who has 15 years of experience in the fitness sector, will focus on nutrition and fitness as part of the initiative.
The initiative also aims to address misinformation surrounding diabetes reversal by prioritising evidence-based care and patient safety.
