In another twist of events, Pastor Israel Ford of LifeWorks Church in Wickliffe, Ohio, United States, has sparked intense social media debate after a viral video showed him introducing a second wife to his congregation and claiming that monogamy is unbiblical.
In the viral video, the pastor’s first wife, Prophetess Lydia Ford, stands by his side and introduces the second wife, Minister Shakayla Ford.
She said they had been privately married for three years.
Pastor Ford argued against mainstream Christian marital traditions, stating that society has been wrongly taught that a man should only have one wife.
He claimed that polygamy is “divinely ordained” and that enforcing strict monogamy does not align with the full context of biblical history.
He supported his action with Exodus 21:10. The Bible reference says: “If he takes him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish” (King James Version).
In a post accompanying the video on Facebook, Pastor Ford wrote: “I would like to introduce to the world my second wife, Shakayla Ford.
