Zcash has a new favorite place to hang out, and it isn’t the Zcash blockchain.
The supply of ZEC bridged to Solana reached a record 103,000 tokens, worth $124 million. That makes it the largest pool of Zcash ever parked on Solana.
The catch is a little ironic. The version of ZEC living on Solana doesn’t come with the privacy features that made Zcash famous in the first place.
The numbers behind the record
Most of the ZEC on Solana arrives through NEAR’s OmniBridge. Think of a bridge as a currency exchange booth at an airport: you hand over one form of an asset and receive a version you can spend somewhere else.
As of late October 2026, that bridged supply sat at approximately 103,000 tokens. Market prices ranged between $1,200 and $1,250 per ZEC.
This isn’t the first high-water mark. Bridged supply reached about 86,643 ZEC in May 2026, then climbed to about 97,942 ZEC in mid-September 2026.
The September peak carried a dollar value of roughly $132 million. That’s higher than today’s figure, despite involving fewer tokens.
Translation: more ZEC is moving onto Solana, but each token was worth more a month and a half ago. The record is in token count, not in dollars.
The bigger story may be the people holding it. Holders of the OmniBridge version of ZEC grew from roughly 17,000 in late June 2026 to more than 152,000 by late October 2026.
That’s close to a ninefold increase in about four months. Whatever is drawing people in, it isn’t a handful of whales shuffling coins between wallets.
Solana runs the ZEC trading floor
Supply is only half the picture. Trading activity tells the rest.
As of mid-September 2026, Solana accounted for about 79% of ZEC spot trading volume on decentralized exchanges across all chains. If you were swapping ZEC on a DEX, odds are you were doing it on Solana.
There’s also a second flavor of bridged Zcash on the network. A variant called zenZEC, built on Zenrock’s MPC system, launched on October 31, 2025, and has passed $15 million in cumulative volume.
MPC, short for multi-party computation, splits control of an asset across several parties so no single one holds the full key. It’s a different security model from OmniBridge, aimed at the same goal of getting ZEC onto Solana.
Privacy coin, minus the privacy
Zcash was designed around shielded transactions. These hide the sender, receiver, and amount, using cryptography to prove a transaction is valid without revealing its details.
On its native chain, the total ZEC supply stands at about 17.01 million out of a 21 million cap. About 29% of that supply sat in shielded pools as of late October 2026.
The bridged tokens on Solana don’t offer that shielding. Once ZEC crosses over, it behaves like most other tokens on a public ledger, with balances and transfers visible to anyone who looks.
What this means
The most direct read is that Solana has become the main venue for trading ZEC outside centralized exchanges. With roughly 79% of DEX spot volume and a record bridged supply, liquidity is concentrating in one place.
Scale matters here too. The 103,000 ZEC on Solana remains a small slice of the roughly 17.01 million ZEC in existence, so the native chain is still where the vast majority of supply lives.
The divergence between token count and dollar value is worth watching. Bridged supply grew between September and October while its total value fell from about $132 million to $124 million, showing users kept bridging even as the dollar value of their holdings slipped.
The holder count is arguably the most telling metric. A jump from about 17,000 to more than 152,000 holders in four months points to broad retail participation, not just a few large accounts moving size.
