Uzbekistan and Egypt have signed a memorandum of cooperation to advance joint initiatives in agriculture, livestock farming and veterinary medicine, following a meeting between Uzbek officials and an Egyptian agricultural research delegation.
The meeting brought together representatives of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance and a delegation led by Adel Abdelazim Abdulyazed Elakhedar, president of Egypt’s Agricultural Research Centre.
The parties discussed strengthening ties between research institutions, exchanging expertise and introducing best practices in food security, water resource management and environmental protection.
Particular attention was given to improving livestock farming, raising the quality of dairy and meat products, and developing sheep breeding. The discussions also covered measures to improve animal reproduction rates and productivity, prevent veterinary diseases and explore opportunities to supply veterinary medicines.
The parties also considered proposals to expand pastureland in Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region and bring unused land into agricultural production.
During the meeting, representatives presented the activities, ongoing projects and future plans of UzAgroStar Holding. The participants explored opportunities to launch mutually beneficial initiatives across different agricultural subsectors.
In June, Uzbekistan and Egypt signed a series of agreements to strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation across multiple areas. The documents included a 2026–2028 cooperation program between the two countries’ foreign ministries and a memorandum of understanding between Uzbekistan’s Center for Foreign Policy Studies and International Initiatives and Egypt’s Institute for Diplomatic Studies. The agreements aim to strengthen coordination between diplomatic institutions, promote foreign policy research and analytical exchanges, and deepen political dialogue.
