By Zoila Palma: Pope Leo XIV has confirmed that he will travel to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru from November 6 to 17, expressing “great joy and enthusiasm” ahead of his upcoming Apostolic Journey to Latin America.
The Vatican said the journey will provide an opportunity for the Pope to strengthen ties with local Catholic communities, encourage the faithful in their mission, and share messages of faith, hope, and peace.
Pope Leo also expressed his excitement about returning to the continent, where he has spent significant moments of his life, and said he hopes the visit will encourage unity among Christians and renew their commitment to proclaiming the Gospel.
The announcement also provided an update on the Pope’s recovery following surgery on October 13. According to the Holy See Press Office, his recovery continues to progress favorably, and medical examinations confirmed that his condition was localized and that no further oncological treatment was necessary.
The Pope has gradually resumed his activities while adjusting his schedule in consultation with his doctors to allow sufficient time for rest.
The Vatican added that Pope Leo remains grateful for the prayers, support, and medical care he has received as he continues his recovery and prepares for the upcoming visit.
