A woman from Mindanao on Tuesday filed an administrative complaint against her live-in partner, a police officer, over alleged abuse for nearly nine years, the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) said.
In a statement, the NAPOLCOM said the complainant, who is a teacher, filed the complaint against Police Corporal Ricardo Silva Jr., who is assigned at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
(We will not tolerate any form of violence against women. To those who are experiencing abuse, do not allow yourself to be harmed, even for the first time.)
(Report it to the authorities. The PNP and NAPOLCOM are here to listen, help, and support you.)
Calinisan vowed to pursue appropriate administrative proceedings against Silva for grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.
During the press briefing, the complainant, identified as alias “Ma’am” recounted how she sought help after feeling that she could no longer escape her abusive situation.
(To all the battered women out there, it's time to come out. Don't put up with it anymore. Don't wait for your sanity, dreams, or things you worked hard for to be destroyed. Don't wait for someone who doesn't deserve it to destroy you.)
For his part, Silva apologized for his actions and urged fellow police officers not to follow his example.
(Sorry, Hon, for what I did. To my colleagues, don't imitate me. If you have bad feelings, just pray. To everyone, I apologize for the wrong I did.) —VAL, GMA News
