It will test whether companies caused or condoned the fires behind the smoke.
The government has appointed Davinder Singh Chambers to advise on cross-border investigations into companies potentially linked to haze-causing fires in Singapore.
It will establish a specialist panel of law, audit, and investigative firms to probe companies’ conduct, corporate ties, and supply chains over their potential involvement in the fires.
The government said Singh will ensure the necessary inquiries and investigations are properly conducted across different jurisdictions.
Companies under investigation must provide full access to relevant information, operations, and corporate structures, the government added.
They are also required to engage panel members to conduct inquiries and submit audit findings to the government.
The panel will help establish the facts, including where corporate structures and commercial arrangements span multiple jurisdictions.
The findings of these inquiries will be assessed by the relevant government agencies and the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW
Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.
Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.
We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.
If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
