The Philadelphia Eagles’ 38-21 Monday night loss to the Dallas Cowboys was another painful setback in a season spiraling out of control. However, the defeat also reinforced a troubling trend under head coach Nick Sirianni. Philadelphia is now 0-8 straight-up as a home underdog during his tenure. They remain the NFL’s only team without a win in that situation since 2021. The latest collapse extended the Eagles’ losing streak to five games and dropped them to 2-5.
With Tanner McKee filling in for sidelined Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia briefly appeared ready to reverse its fortunes. The Eagles battled Dallas to a 21-21 tie midway through the third quarter, raising hopes of an upset. Instead, the Cowboys seized control. Dallas scored 17 unanswered points to turn a competitive contest into another frustrating defeat.
The Cowboys gashed Vic Fangio’s defense for 204 rushing yards. McKee’s fourth-quarter interception further damaged Philadelphia’s comeback hopes. The result exposed the Eagles’ inability to sustain momentum.

Sirianni’s 2026 campaign has become the most difficult stretch of his tenure. After opening with narrow victories over Washington and Tennessee, Philadelphia has endured offensive struggles and a growing injury crisis. Hurts’ absence has compounded those problems. It has left Sirianni to navigate a precarious situation with McKee under center.
The 0-8 home-underdog record adds another layer of scrutiny to a season already threatening to unravel. Lincoln Financial Field is supposed to be a difficult place for visiting teams. Philadelphia, though, has repeatedly failed to capitalize when bookmakers count it out. With the Eagles at 2-5, Sirianni must find answers quickly. Otherwise, this losing streak could become more than a temporary slump—it could define Philadelphia’s entire season.
