Emmerdale’s Rhona (Zoe Henry) forewarned it, that Tom King (James Chase) wouldn’t be able to resist coming back to torment Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper), and that he’d be dangerous.
Belle was shaken when her family liaison arrived at the Dingles’ to let her know that abuser Tom had served his sentence and was being released.
Her initial reaction was absolute horror, compounded by learning from Charles (Kevin Mathurin) that the vicar has been supporting Tom in prison, and worse, that he endorses Tom’s need to get forgiveness from Belle.
With Tom already worming his way back inside her head, Belle took a stand and decided that she wouldn’t let him, and she chose to no longer be afraid.
In her defiance, she was quick to tell Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Kammy (Shebz Miah) that she doesn’t need their protection, but Rhona’s words of warning told Cain otherwise.
Rhona has experience of violent exes being released from prison and cautioned Cain that they need to be prepared for Tom’s re-emergence.
Belle is trying to be as business as usual as she can, but while working with an engaged couple on their wedding, she starts to notice some familiar traits in the groom Jordan. He’s controlling, and Belle creates a situation to meet with the bride, Caz, on her own, to warn her of what she’s seen.
Caz is taken aback, and Belle persists, but ultimately Caz is furious by the insinuation. Belle’s concern sees her fired.
She’s heartbroken to have misread the situation and put her own emotions into someone else’s life. How could she have got it so wrong?
Kammy finds a wreath of dead flowers addressed to Belle, but Cain urges him to keep it a secret. It looks like Tom is beginning his mind games and is preparing to get back under Belle’s skin. Is Belle in danger?
