The second batch of Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruits officially reported to their designated training centers on Friday, October 23, 2026, to begin six months of intensive Basic Military Training.
The recruits have been deployed across multiple specialized military institutions, including the Army Recruit Training School, Air Force Recruit Training School, Navy Recruit Training School, Armour Training School, and the Army Special Operations Training School.
Over the next six months, the recruits will undergo a comprehensive curriculum designed to instill discipline, professionalism, and core military values. The training covers essential field operations and tactical skills, including map reading, weapon handling, drill, first aid, physical conditioning, and fieldcraft. GAF authorities noted that the program is structured to equip recruits with the requisite competencies to uphold the standards and traditions of the armed forces.

The commencement of training represents a significant milestone for the recruits as they transition toward becoming full-fledged professional soldiers.
In a related development, the Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, announced that the government will not open new application portals for recruitment into the various security services in 2027.

Speaking on the policy directive, the Minister explained that the decision aligns with instructions from President John Dramani Mahama to prioritize clearing the existing backlog of qualified applicants.
The government intends to focus on individuals who have already completed the requisite screening and selection processes but were unable to be admitted into training facilities due to capacity constraints.
