Stephen Currymay be old, and he might sit out every back-to-back set the Golden State Warriors have this season. But on the games he suits up for, the expectation for Curry is that he’ll be his typically reliable self. He was exactly that on Monday as the Warriors earned their first win of the season in grand fashion by blowing out the Denver Nuggets, 134-114.
Curry recorded 24 points, three rebounds, and two assists, which is not even close to his biggest game ever. But he more than made up for it with his ridiculous shooting efficiency. The Warriors star made all eight of his field-goal attempts on the night (including a perfect 3-of-3 from deep), and he also made all five of his free-throw attempts, pitching a perfect game, so to speak, in the process.
According to ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azarly, this is only the second time in Curry’s career in which he finished a game shooting 100% from the field. His first 100% FG game came all the way back in 2011, when the sophomore version of Curry put up 14 points on 5-of-5 shooting (3-of-3 from three) in a 102-89 victory over the New Orleans Hornets.

What made this such a masterclass for Curry is that the Nuggets were selling out to make his life difficult. They were blitzing him on ball screens in an attempt to get the ball out of his hands, but the ball was making its way back to him and he made Denver pay.
Even at 38 years of age, Curry’s mere presence opens up so much space for his teammates to do damage. On Monday, it was Yaxel Lendeborg who had himself a night. The 11th pick of the 2026 NBA Draft recorded a career-high 31 points to go along with 12 rebounds and six assists, and everything just becomes so much easier for the Dubs when Curry is healthy and humming.
But another tough matchup awaits the Warriors. Their next game will be on Wednesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and that will be a road game as well.
