KUALA LUMPUR: A 24-year-old Malaysian man was arrested after Singapore authorities discovered more than 2kg of drugs, including heroin and methamphetamine, hidden in his motorcycle at the Tuas Checkpoint last Wednesday (Oct 21).
The drugs, comprising about 1,924g of heroin and 164g of methamphetamine, commonly known as "Ice", were estimated to be worth more than S$222,000 (approximately RM730,000).
In a Facebook post, Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said its officers had referred the Malaysia-registered motorcycle for enhanced checks.
During the inspection, officers discovered five bundles suspected to contain controlled drugs inside a tote bag concealed beneath a raincoat in the motorcycle's top box.

"Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers were immediately alerted to the detection and conducted further checks on the man and the motorcycle," ICA said.
The authorities seized a total of about 1,924g of heroin and 164g of methamphetamine.
According to ICA, the seized drugs could potentially sustain the addiction of about 1,010 drug abusers for a week.
The Malaysian was arrested and investigations are ongoing.
Under Section 7 of Singapore's Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, anyone convicted of importing or exporting more than 15g of diamorphine, also known as pure heroin, may face the death penalty.
ICA said it would continue working closely with CNB to prevent drug smuggling attempts across Singapore's borders.
The authority also stressed that it would remain vigilant in conducting security checks at checkpoints to detect and deter the smuggling of prohibited items, including weapons, explosives and other contraband.
