Nearly ten years after Warner Bros. closed the official servers in December 2016, players can now play Batman: Arkham Origins multiplayer again. The unofficial Android PlayStation 3 emulator ARMSX3 released version 1.4 on October 25, adding built-in support for the community-run Arkham: Revived servers. Players use the RPCN alternative network to join quick matches and manage private lobbies right from their phones.
The development team added several helpful upgrades to make mobile play smoother. You can switch to another app while waiting in a lobby, and the emulator will keep your connection active in the background. If your internet drops, the system will try to reconnect right away.
An optional patch lets lobby hosts start private matches with fewer than three players. You’ll need to update your game to version 1.06 and set up an RPCN account first. Cross-play is not available, so you can only match with other ARMSX3 users. Playing with people on native PS3 hardware or the Steam PC version isn’t possible.
The emulator update does more than just bring Gotham City back online. Version 1.4 adds a working virtual portal system for toy-to-life games. You can load figure files directly into the emulator for games like Skylanders and Disney Infinity, so you don’t need the physical toys.
The virtual Skylanders Portal of Power can support up to eight virtual figures and magic items at once. The main limitation is with Skylanders Imaginators Senseis, which still need data files taken from the real figures.
This release is also great news for music and rhythm game fans. The developers added full microphone support for games like SingStar and Guitar Hero. You can use your phone’s built-in mic or connect a USB mic. You can also use a compatible Rocksmith guitar cable for a more authentic experience.
The patch notes also mention crash fixes for Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure and visual glitch repairs for J-Stars Victory VS+. How well the emulator runs depends on your Android device, but this patch makes mobile gaming much more accessible.
