Alaska Airlines Cancels 7 Nonstop Routes From Major City: See Full List Now

Alaska Airlines has shaved seven nonstop routes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in the last two years, as the airline continues to adjust its network and maintain its presence as one of the largest airlines on the US West Coast.

While Los Angeles sits as the airline's fifth busiest airport by weekly departures, this is just a quarter of that seen at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), its biggest hub. Between January 2025 and May 2026, four international and three domestic routes have been suspended from Los Angeles. Data for this article has been sourced from Cirium, an online aviation analytics company.

Alaska Airlines Domestic Routes Cut From LAX

Domestically, Alaska has shaved three domestic routes from its network at Los Angeles, as the airline redeploys its aircraft on more lucrative routes. The airline suspended its nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) in January of last year, a seasonal service which is unlikely to return.

Washington Dulles International Airport(IAD) lost its nonstop service by Alaska from Los Angeles in August 2025, as the airline reported a drop in demand on the route. Instead, the airline has retained its Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) service.

The final domestic link to be suspended was between Los Angeles and Reno Tahoe International Airport (RNO). This came as part of the airline's broader network realignment, and leaves Alaska's three sole services from Reno to Seattle, Portland International Airport (PDX) and San Diego (SAN).

Two Alaska Airlines Destinations In Mexico Terminated From Los Angeles

Weaker demand to Mexico has seen Alaska remove its nonstop flights from Los Angeles to Monterrey (MTY) in October 2025, while Cancun was also removed from the airline's network in May this year.

This leaves Alaska operating to just eight Mexican destinations, which include Guadalajara (GDL), Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo (ZIH), La Paz (LAP), Loreto (LTO), Manzanillo (ZLO), Mazatlán (MZT), Puerto Vallarta (PVR), San José del Cabo (SJD).

Alaska maintains around 3.6% of the market share for travel between the US and Mexico, as reported by OAG. This is around 2.13 million passengers each year.

Alaska Airlines Flights To Nassau And Kelowna Are Gone

Alaska cut its nonstop flight from Los Angeles to Nassau (NAS) in August 2025. The carrier cut the route to the Bahamas due to poor performance. Alaska had previously also operated nonstop flights to Nassau from Seattle, but this route was also cut last year. The airline no longer serves Nassau, meaning there are currently no flights to the US West Coast from the Bahamas. This leaves Denver International Airport (DEN) and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) as the closest transit points with other carriers.

Kelowna (YLW), in Canada, was a seasonal service offered by Alaska Airlines, providing nonstop flights to this picturesque region of British Columbia. The route was axed in March of this year, leaving no carrier serving the city pair. Alaska now provides one-stop service to Kelowna through its year-round flights from Seattle.

Los Angeles is Alaska Airlines' fifth-largest airport by number of weekly departures, with 533 scheduled on average each week. The airline's largest airports, in order of weekly departures, are Seattle, Portland (PDX), Honolulu (HNL), San Diego (SAN), and Los Angeles.
