Delta Air Lines is the second-largest operator between the United States and Europe by flights. When writing in late October 2026, the
SkyTeam member has thus far announced four new or returning routes across the North Atlantic for 2027. More may be announced in due course.
The most recent addition was from
Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Reykjavík's Keflavik International Airport (KEF). Delta will now have three Boeing 757 routes to Europe for the first time in four years. This is notable, as the airline previously stated it has little desire to fly narrowbodies across the Atlantic, although it probably meant to Ireland, the UK, and continental Europe.
Delta's New & Returning Routes To Europe In 2027
As all four routes have previously been announced, this article simply summarizes them and then focuses on specific markets in more detail. OAG data shows that Delta will reintroduce service from BOS to KEF next April, having last operated amid the COVID-19 pandemic between May and September 2021. At the time, up to a daily operation using the Boeing 757-200 existed.

At 2,097 nautical miles (3,884 km) each way, BOS-KEF will become Delta's new shortest route to Europe. The relaunch means that the airline will have four routes to Iceland for the first time. Until now, only three routes have existed. It'll join links from DTW, which started in 2023;
Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), which began in 2016; and New York's
John. F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), which started in 2011.
BOS-KEF will have two airlines again. This number was most recently available in 2025, when the now-defunct Icelandic low-cost carrier PLAY coexisted with Icelandair. Delta will particularly appeal to the US point of sale, loyalty program members, and those connecting in BOS to reach other destinations nationwide.

A Look At Delta From Boston To Venice
Venice is extraordinarily popular among American tourists both as a destination in its own right but also as a gateway to cruising across the Mediterranean and Adriatic. In the 12 months to August 2026, booking data shows that Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) was the largest unserved European airport from BOS, with 47,000 round-trip indirect passengers. For obvious reasons, over half of the traffic flew in only four months (May-August 2026).
The addition of VCE and now also KEF means that Delta will have 14 routes from BOS to Europe next summer, as summarized below. In the peak month of July 2027, for example, 14 daily departures will exist, 17% more than the previous record, set in July 2026. Delta will now have 26% of all BOS-Europe services, expanding its lead over the second-placed JetBlue (17% share).

Generally, the emphasis nowadays is on transatlantic travel from North America to Southern Europe. A problem is that most of the places in the key countries (Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal) are already served by Delta from BOS. One of the few markets that stands a reasonable chance of being served is Naples, which had 32,000 round-trip passengers in the 12 months to June 2026. Will flights materialize?
Other US-Iceland Routes Will Start In 2027
In addition to Delta's reintroduction of BOS-KEF service next year, two other significant developments will occur. First, Icelandair will lift off from KEF to St. Louis on May 14, with four weekly departures on the carrier's lowest-capacity jet equipment, the 160-seat 737 MAX 8. The market was last served by the now-defunct WOW Air in 2019.
Then there's
American Airlines, which will begin flying from Philadelphia, the carrier's leading hub for European activity, to KEF on May 27. A daily operation on the 196-seat A321neo (not the XLR) will be available. It'll mark the oneworld member's return to Iceland after last flying there in 2019 from Dallas/Fort Worth. Philadelphia-KEF was last served by Icelandair in 2020.
